Pearl’s handmade craftsmanship has pioneered a tradition of flute making since 1968. Many of their flute-makers spend their entire career working solely at the Pearl workshop. They innovatively conduct research with gold and silver, explore ergonomic key shape concepts, and create and study headjoint designs. Pearl’s patented Pinless Mechanism has set an industry benchmark for smoothness and reliability. Their One-Piece Core-Bar construction, through its ingenious yet simple design, provides the player with an exceptionally efficient, smooth, and dependable mechanism. Pearl is proud to produce instruments that reflect their revered commitment to accuracy of pitch, flexible articulation, wide dynamic spectrum, and a beautiful projecting sound.

Handmade Opera:
Created by a single craftsman, each element is meticulously molded by hand to create an instrument rich in overtones with a wide dynamic range. The Opera series is primarily available as a special order, and allows the flautist to specify every detail of this tailor-made instrument. From key height, key angle, gold or silver tubing, to extra trill keys and complete fine engraving, Opera series flutes deliver the ultimate in customization from Pearl.

Handmade Maesta/Cantabile:
The Maesta Gold flutes have marvelously rich overtones and an expansive dynamic range. Gold preferences can be used on the body, keys, embouchure riser and/or lip, rings and posts, or the headjoint. Pearl’s “Pristine Silver” (.970) has a high content of silver alloy, offering astonishing projection of sound when compared with traditional sterling silver. The Cantabile series makes use of traditional handmade features, such as sterling silver, French pointed arms, and drawn toneholes. The sterling silver keys are exceptionally nimble and swift when coupled with Pearl’s Pinless Mechanism and One-Piece Core-Bar.
